When we started Netframe, we knew that a credible alternative to VMware vSphere needed a credible migration story. Converter 1.x was that story for vSphere 6 and 7. With 2.0, we extend the picture to vSphere 8.x environments, including vSAN-backed virtual machines.
This release also lands a number of operational improvements customers have asked for:
- Live cutover. Migrate a VM while it is still running, then cut over with a short freeze window measured in seconds. Suitable for workloads that cannot accept a full power-off migration window.
- Network policy translation. Distributed virtual switch port groups, VLAN tags, and traffic shaping policies map cleanly onto Netframe network profiles.
- Storage tiering. Source datastores can be mapped to specific Netframe storage pools, including SSD/NVMe tiers, with per-VM overrides.
- Bulk migration via REST. Schedule and orchestrate migrations from Ansible, Terraform, or your existing change-management tooling.
Converter remains a free download for all Netframe customers. There is no per-VM fee, no per-migration fee, and no time limit on use.
